Dead Frontier: Outbreak

"Interesting idea, could've been done better."

date: September 16, 2009

I liked what you did with this, certainly, but in the end I just got fed up of trawling through all the options over and over every time I tried again. On a related point, the voice actor was a little pointless, since I ended up just skipping it so I could read the text and options without having to wait for the text to be slowly read to me.

In the end, I wanted to try and finish it but I just got too bored of clicking through the whole thing to try a certain choice again. Maybe having checkpoints would be a better idea, since it seemed to me like there's a fairly linear correct course anyway, with some options only really serving to add to the story or change your "Compassion" score.

Overall, this was a good effort that could've been put together in a better way.

Saturday Morning Watchmen

"Ugh. Come on guys..."

date: March 17, 2009

If you haven't seen the film, don't write an idiotic review spouting crap about how you either remember this show from when you were a kid (I doubt it...), or that you're all sad because it's just an intro. Or indeed any other nonsense that comes from the fact you don't know the film so don't get this joke. Sorry. That's not Harry's fault. When you're old enough, you can go and see the film, then you'll get it. Until then, shut up.

Having actually seen the film, I found this spoof absolutely hilarious, really well animated in the old cartoony style, with a cheesy theme song to match. Excellent work all round. I for one think that an actual episode would ruin it somewhat, since that'd stretch the joke too far. This, as it is, is just right. Short and sweet. And very funny.

Top job. If you've seen the film, you'll love this. Otherwise, move along. This isn't for you.

DUCK SIM 2008

"Just like the real thing!"

submission: DUCK SIM 2008

Amazing. I really felt like I was... inside... the mind of the little guy. Intense.

Suddenly the petty worries of the modern world slipped away, and all I could think about as I bobbed gently on the lake of my imagination was... Hey, is that some bread?

Quack.

Closure.

"Very good indeed."

Just what Newgrounds needs. Good games. And this one is exactly that.

Original idea, really well made with a great atmosphere and perfect audio to complement it. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this, and will definitely be back later to try and complete it!

Well worth anyone's time if they enjoy a good puzzler. Well done.

"Absolutely fantastic."

I laughed, I laughed... I laughed some more.
I just love seeing animations like this on Newgrounds. So obvious that loads and loads of effort went into it, excellent drawing, nicely done sound, and a brilliant punchline to the situation.
Overall, superb stuff. This goes straight onto my favourites, and you know it's worth watching when I immediately get my housemates to watch it. As I am just about to do.

Well done sir!

Obi-Wan's Brilliance

"The sound quality really let this down."

date: January 23, 2009

Nicely drawn, good jokes, but that awful sound static even at moderate volume was just too irritating to put up with.

A real shame, as that one thing spoiled what is otherwise a very well-done piece of animation. See if you can sort that out, and your future works will really shine.

Artificial Junk (Old)

"Lots of potential, but it's not quite there yet."

date: January 21, 2009

Not at all bad for an attempt at a game, I really like the idea, very sound indeed. However, until you work on the balance between how much gold you get and how much things cost, it'll be a little too flawed to enjoy. I tried a few combinations, and couldn't make it past wave 3. I either had too little defence, so got mashed, or not enough attack, so I couldn't kill things quickly enough.

Very good effort though. Keep it up!

Get Off My Planet

"Very addictive, but very tricky."

submission: Get Off My Planet
date: January 21, 2009

I can't give this any less than a nine, since I've been playing it for ages now, even though it has kicked my ass every time. The difficulty is a little too steep, I think, and yet the game is so much fun to play, I can't seem to care about that little problem enough to stop!

I think the one thing that would help the most would be if you left the city expansion down to the player. You can choose to upgrade your city, for a price, but I don't see the point when it upgrades itself every so many waves of enemies anyway. If you left that to us, so we could better manage the number of farms required and such, it'd be that much better a game for it.

Possibly bring down the cost of the defence towers too, as the only options I seemed to have were cheap towers that fell behind in power all too quickly, or expensive towers that held off the enemy for a long time but are so pricey I couldn't afford enough to keep coverage up.

Anyway, for the benefit of my fellow players for what it's worth, my best effort was around 100,000 points, building several power plants and mines and using double laser turrets. Power hungry as hell, but badass.

To end on a positive, I never experienced any of the bugs mentioned in previous reviews. Overall a really good fun game, very addictive. I will find a way to beat it eventually!

Batman Meets Twoface

"Very well made, but not very funny."

date: January 16, 2009

I'm afraid I couldn't sit through the whole thing, it just got on my nerves before too long. Maybe it was funny nearer the end. I'll never know, because I can't bring myself to find out.

Lots of points for great animation style, smoothly done, it's obvious a lot of work went into it and it certainly shows in the final product. But the voice acting just grated too much for my liking, and the general concept didn't impress me much.

Maybe I just love The Dark Knight a little too much to be able to take this for the parody it is. Maybe I'm just fed up of people using the "camp" stereotype for cheap laughs. Maybe a little of both.

Still, very well made Flash. I'm sure others will get more out of it than I did.

Griswold the Goblin 2 CH1

"A very pleasant reminder of great point'n'clicks!"

date: January 14, 2009

I've been a huge fan of the point'n'click adventure game since I was young, such gems as The Dig, Day of the Tentacle and Simon the Sorcerer. This took me right back there. A great balance of amusing dialogue, lovely scenes and well drawn environments. Also, if you do something really dumb, you can die! Just like in the Legend of Kyrandia games, which I adored.

Top marks, excellent work! I look forward to part two with much anticipation!
